1Except the Lord build the house, they labor in vain that build it: except the Lord keep the city, the keeper watcheth in vain.
2It is in vain for you to rise early, and to lie down late, and eat the bread of sorrow: but he will surely give rest to his beloved.
3Behold, children are the inheritance of the Lord, and the fruit of the womb his reward.
4As are the arrows in the hand of the strong man; so are the children of youth.
5Blessed is the man that hath his quiver full of them: for they shall not be ashamed, when they speak with their enemies in the gate.
